News from the Music Department
David Lin
This week on Quad we were able to recognise Dave Lin (7FO), who in June was named the Winner of the Junior Section of the Ku-ring-gai Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. There were over 200 entrants for this event and so it is a significant achievement on David’s part to win.
This competition began in 1984 and the Orchestra itself was founded 40 years ago. It is an organisation that has contributed significantly to the music life of Sydney during this time, particularly in the Upper North Shore.
Year 12 Soiree
On Tuesday this week the Music Department celebrated the talents of the current Year 12 cohort in their final recital of their schooling at Trinity. Staff and parents enjoyed a diverse concert from our HSC and IB Musicians performing selections from their final examination recital repertoire. Performers included: Hari Kangatharan (12Hi), Joseph Lin (12St), Andrew Tanous (12Du), Kevin Zhang (12He), Martin Wong (12Ta), Anson Zhou (12Ke), Oscar Hindle (12WJ), Justin Zhou (12La), Sam Waddington (12Mu), and Simon Helidoniotis (12Ho). We wish all these boys well for their practical examinations fast approaching in Week 8 of this term.
