Trinity Year 10 student comes top in state for HSC Mathematics Advanced

Congratulations to Year 10 student Christian C. for an amazing achievement, coming top in the state for the HSC Mathematics Advanced.

Christian was also named the Trinity Dux of Year 10 2023 at Speech Day last week.

Christian participated in Trinity’s Mathematics Acceleration Program that creates pathways for high potential learners in Mathematics to move more quickly through the Stage-based NESA curriculum, completing the HSC Mathematics Advanced Course, and presenting for the HSC examination in this course, at the end of Year 10.

This year, Trinity presented 26 Year 10 accelerants for the HSC Mathematics Advanced examination.

Some of these students will continue with the HSC pathway, studying Mathematics at the Extension 1 and Extension 2 level in 2024; others  will pursue the IB Diploma, leveraging experience gained in preparing for and completing a credential examination.

“Based on feedback from our recent focus groups with Year 10 students, they tell us they appreciate the challenge to learn and meet more challenging outcomes via the School’s acceleration programs in both Mathematics and Business Studies, as well as the opportunity to develop the work ethic and academic engagement behaviours required to succeed at the credential level,” said Mrs Deborah Williams, Deputy Headmaster – Academic, Trinity Grammar School.
