Rugby victories but no Shield … yet

The Black and Green Shield is still up for grabs after wild weather played havoc with weekend sport.

Trinity and St Patrick’s College, Strathfield, agreed to defer the annual head-to-head battle after rain washed out all but two rugby matches.

Both resulted in convincing victories for Trinity.

The firsts won 29-5, with tries from  Marcus Mastro (11Mu), Amosia Soatini (12Ho), Sione Lua (11St), Brock Prideaux (11WH), and Max Meagher (12Hi), and the seconds won  24-15, with tries from Zac Amine (11Yo), Liam Isaako (12WJ), Norman Pala’amo (11Fo), and Zac Alshehabi (12Du).

The schools will now try to play most of the fixtures during the rest of the year, Headmaster Tim Bowden explaining that the idea was to involve as many boys as possible in the battle for the shield.

Trinity volleyballers were also in action, defeating Scots and Riverview in the Sydney Boys High annual gala competition, before losing to Sydney Grammar in a semi-final.
