Trinity Education Support Services

Trinity Education Support Services (TESS) provides integrated support to students across Preparatory, Junior, Middle and Senior School campuses. The primary goal of Trinity’s Education Support Services Department is to promote within the School practices which enable students who have special needs to pursue effectively their educational and vocational goals. The departmental structure permits an inclusive and comprehensive approach for students with special needs on a Pre-K to 12 basis. We aim to identify students’ individual learning needs early in their School life and make appropriate adjustments. Students with special needs include those who have:

  • Cognitive Gifts and Talents
  • Social and emotional difficulties
  • Physical disabilities
  • Learning difficulties
  • English as Second Language (ESL)
  • Vocational Guidance needs

The TESS team is made up of:

  • Registered Psychologists
  • Specialist teachers in learning support, gifted and talented education
  • English as a Second Language (for students from non-English speaking backgrounds)
  • Teacher’s Aides
  • Special referrals can also be made to services such as Speech Pathologists or Occupational Therapists

ESL

Boys whose first language is not English often need some additional support with their studies. Through TESS ESL support, boys enjoy a creative syllabus that delivers specialised help in English for academic purposes.

Differentiated Learning

Trinity academic staff differentiate content and the learning environment to meet individual needs. The use of ongoing assessment and flexible grouping makes this a successful approach to instruction.
