Academic Focus
As we complete our second week of the return to face to face learning, it is marvellous to see we have settled well into learning together again, albeit with some significant changes to the way things used to be. The mood of general positivity around the return to campus has not yet faded – we are thankful to have available to us the plethora of different interactions available when we can occupy the same space.
IB Diploma examinations have continued over the course of this week. The Year 12 IB Diploma students are to be congratulated upon their fine approach to observing all required protocols for COVID-safe examinations. The briefing for the HSC students took place this week in preparation for the commencement of their exams on Tuesday, and we have every expectation that they will also conduct themselves with maturity as they complete their credential. I would like to make special commendation of this group of boys. The delay to the start of the HSC until the 9th of November means that some of them will need to remain in examination mode until the 1st of December. We want them to know that their School community will continue to pray for them and support them over their long, long haul. Boys, when you have successfully managed this, you will know that you can take on any long term academic challenge you may wish to in the future!
Similarly, our Year 11 students have stepped into the increasing assessment demands of the final year of their credential courses, working with focus to manage their repertoire for the term. They are also to be affirmed on the way in which they have demonstrated the academic engagement behaviours we expect from our senior students.
Students in Years 7 to 10 are engaged in final assessment opportunities for their programmes of study. These tasks will contribute to the Semester 2 Learning Progress Reports, issued during the final week of this term.
It is indeed a demanding time for all of our students as they work to bring the best finish possible to the academic year. I encourage each of them to plan well, prepare thoroughly, honour their own learning journeys by putting in the time that is required, and enjoy the knowledge that they have done their best.
