Library Lover’s Day

This week we have been celebrating all that we love about the Library. Students have been sharing what they love about the Library on our chatter board, competed against each other in our lunch time library quiz and created bookmarks with library reviews. There was definitely a special feel in the Library this week that we hope to carry forward throughout the year.

Author Spotlight – Geronimo Stilton

Geronimo Stilton is the publisher of The Rodent’s Gazette, Mouse Island’s most famous newspaper. He is Rattus Emeritus of Mousomorphic Literature and Neo-Ratonic Comparative Philosophy. In his spare time, Mr. Stilton enjoys collecting antique cheese rinds, playing golf, and telling stories to his nephew Benjamin. He lives in New Mouse City, Mouse Island.

Although Geronimo is mild-mannered and enjoys a quiet life, he is often caught up in faraway adventures with his sister Thea, cousin Trap, and nephew Benjamin. Their adventures can be explored in Geromino’s autobiographical series of books, such The Lost Treasure of the Emerald Eye, The Mona Mousa Code and The Enormouse Pearl Heist.

Behind the scenes – Elisabetta Dami

Elisabetta Dami is the daughter of Italian publisher Piero Dami. After learning that she could not have children of her own, she began to volunteer at paediatric hospitals, telling the young patients stories of a shy, tender and clumsy mouse with a penchant for funny and adventurous excursions.

Now published in 49 different languages, the Geronimo Stilton series has sold over 180 million copies all over the world. Inspired by Elisabetta’s own international experiences as a pilot and parachuter, the series encourages young readers to live life with excitement and commitment and develop a love of the natural world.
