Weekly Sport Wrap Up – Busy Schedule Brings Mixed Results
A full weekend of winter sport saw Trinity teams contest 94 fixtures across multiple codes, recording 37 wins overall. Teams were in action against a variety of schools, with mixed results across the program.
Chess began the weekend on Friday night with a strong set of performances. Trinity recorded three wins, with the Senior, Intermediate and Junior teams all securing victories in their opening matches.
In AFL, Trinity recorded one win across fixtures. The Year 7/8 team produced the standout result with a win against Shore. There were several strong individual performances, including six goals from Harrison Yu and four from Peter Roberts.
Tennis commenced early on Saturday morning. While the 1st and 2nd IV sides went down to Knox, there were positive results in the lower divisions. Wins were recorded by the 3rds, 6ths and the 8A team. The 8As claimed a 6–0 victory, highlighted by William Lin recovering from 0–5 down in his singles match to win 7–5.
In Volleyball, Trinity finished the round with seven wins and eight losses overall. The 1st and 2nd VI sides were unable to overcome Knox, but there were encouraging wins across the age groups, including performances from the 3rd VI, 16B, 15B, 15C, 14C, 13B and 13C teams.
Football enjoyed its most successful round against Knox in recent memory, sharing the wins and losses with 16-a-piece, as well as registering 5 draws. The 2nd XI secured a 2–1 win in a condensed match, while the 1st XI led 1–0 for much of their game before conceding late goals to go down 1–4. The Junior ‘A’ teams provided promise for the future with wins to the 7A, 8A and 9A sides.
Rugby teams travelled to Orange to play Kinross Wolaroi School, contesting 15 matches across the day against both Kinross and Scots All Saints, finishing with 8 wins, six losses and one draw. The 1st XV recorded a 19–19 draw, while the 2nd XV narrowly went down 24–26 following a strong second half performance. The Middle School teams produced a particularly strong showing, with all 13s, 14s and 15s teams winning their fixtures against Kinross, along with a solid performance from the 16As.
A representative honour was also announced, with Pax Caine selected in the NSW CIS Under 15 Boys Touch Football team, earning the opportunity to compete at the NSW All Schools Championships later this year.
