Outcomes for the class of 2024 exemplify Trinity’s commitment to academic excellence and student choice. The opportunity to shape a programme of study aligned to personal interests, talents, aspirations and approaches to learning offers all students significant choices. It is this kind of meaningful choice that has power to enhance motivation and promote the essential behaviours of academic engagement that are central to Trinity’s student-centred and growth-focused learning philosophy. The options and pathways available to our young men across two credentials provide an outstanding platform for them to exercise agency and drive personal growth.
With significant choice, comes significant responsibility. A secondary credential is the product of discipline, reflection and the willingness to repeatedly confront areas that demand greater precision. It is these qualities, honed over the full trajectory of a school journey, that we acknowledge today. While some outstanding results achieved by both IB Diploma and HSC candidates are highlighted below, the School is genuinely delighted with the strong performance of the entire Year 12 cohort. We are exceedingly proud of the individual commitment these students have demonstrated, the collegiality they have developed in support of one another, and the growth they have worked towards over their secondary academic journeys. We congratulate every student and celebrate the myriad opportunities that now lie before each of them!

IB Diploma Results Overview
The 2024 IB Diploma results once again exemplify Trinity’s commitment to students’ choice in credentialling pathway and academic excellence through holistic education. This year, two students achieved the extraordinary accomplishment of a Perfect Score of 45 points, a testament to both individual dedication and the School’s well-honed structures of support for students electing a credential explicitly prioritising independent inquiry and self-direction.

To achieve an IB Diploma, students must meet a number of conditions across a broad programme, including three Higher Level courses and a compulsory core of three components: the additional Theory of Knowledge subject, a 4000 word extended essay, and a reflective portfolio undertaken in the areas of creativity, activity and service. A consistent feature of Trinity’s IB Diploma results across many years is the depth of achievement through a range of lenses. Demonstrating the strength of the 2024 cohort as a whole, 31 students earned their Diploma ‘with Distinction’ by scoring 40 or more points across their pattern of study. Of enduring strength and particular note this year, 38 students achieved the full three marks for the core components, while an extraordinary 114 students, or 83% of the cohort, achieved two or three marks for these demanding core components. These results are exceptional. They are worthy testimony to Trinity’s commitment in supporting students to engage deeply with the requirement for self-direction and a mentoring relationship with their teachers as they purse the compulsory core components.
With 135 Diplomas awarded to one of the largest IB cohorts in the Australasian region, Trinity continues to provide a world-class education that prepares students for success.

HSC Results Overview
The HSC differs from the IB Diploma in an important structural respect: apart from the compulsory study of English, students may arrange a programme of study across courses and levels almost entirely of their own choosing. The opportunity for increased specialisation is taken up with renewed engagement by many students, and this year’s HSC snapshot celebrates wonderful achievements both across programmes and in particular areas of talent.
Being a Top Achiever in Course demonstrates excellence by ranking among the state’s highest scorers. This year, the School heartily congratulates two students who are named on this prestigious list.
- Timothy Squires 12Yo – Physics
- Ethan Zhang 10Sc – Mathematics Advanced
Achieving a place on the All-Rounder merit list showcases versatility and consistent success across a range of subjects. Today, we are delighted to congratulate one student achieving this accolade.
- Benjamin Chau 12Du
Inclusion on the Distinguished Achievers List further celebrates students who achieve Band 6 results, underscoring academic accomplishment in particular areas of talent and passion.
The HSC recognises a range of outstanding achievements, each reflecting exceptional academic performance. The School is delighted to be celebrating the achievements of the entire class of 2024 across the combined cohorts of the IB Diploma and the Higher School Certificate. When students can compose a programme of study that is tailored to both their developed strengths and future aspirations, they can shape a platform to support personal excellence. Being provided access to two rigorous, but structurally different credentials, is an extraordinary opportunity. The 2024 Year 12 cohort have made their choices carefully, set ambitious goals and worked with determination to achieve them.
We wish all students and their families the excitement of next decisions, the joy of new pathways and the very best in all they undertake. Well done!
