Weekend Sports Roundup | Fencing gold

Thomas Deller (11Ho) has won two gold medals at the NSW School Fencing Championships.

He took out both the U16 Foil and the U16 Epee events, while Ronnie Mao (7La) added a bronze medal in the U14 Epee.

Weekend team sports were dominated by volleyball, tennis, and football.

The volleyballers won nine out of 10 matches, with the firsts and seconds both winning 3-0 against St Aloysius. The only loss was a narrow one, in the 10Bs to Knox.

Trinity football teams won 18 and lost 12 matches, the firsts losing 0-2 and the seconds winning 1-0.

Tennis won 16 matches, with only three losses, though the firsts lost 0-8.

The AFL firsts and seconds both went down to Knox and Shore respectively but there were strong goal-kicking performances in the other two matches.

Kayler McDonald (9Ta) kicked five goals as the Year 9/10 team beat Knox 51-41 and Ethan Chen (8Ar) matched that tally as the Year 7/8s beat Redlands 135-22.

Rugby had a tough day against St Greg’s, winning six and losing 11; the firsts went down narrowly 12-15 and the seconds won 29-5.

In the King’s Invitational cross-country, which doubled as the CIS qualification round, the Opens came fourth while the U16s and U14s both placed first. A remarkable 30 Trinity runners were selected in the CAS team for the CIS Championships.

The chess seniors beat Newington 3-1 while the Juniors lost by the same margin against Fort St.
