Olympic thank you
Paris-bound Olympians have thanked Trinity for offering them use of the School’s highly-regarded water polo facilities in the build-up to the 2024 Games.
Goalkeeper John Hedges told students to make the most of the excellent set-up at Summer Hill, saying: “You are very lucky to have it. Take advantage of it.
“The generosity of the School is really refreshing. It makes such a difference to us.”
The 25-year-old appeared at a Senior School assembly with two Australian Sharks teammates, Matthew Byrnes and Marcus Berehulak, to take part in a Q and A with School Captain Luca Gillard (12St).
Trinity has had a long-standing association with the Australian team, whose head coach Tim Hamill is the School’s senior water polo consultant.
The water polo guest trio will all be making their Olympic debuts in Paris.
Matt Byrnes and John Hedges both recently returned from playing professionally for St Andreu in Spain, while Marcus Berehulak, the youngest member of the Australian squad, was appearing for Jadran Split in Croatia.
Former Trinity water polo captain Tristan Glanzig (’20) is included in the 15-member Australian Olympic squad as one of two travelling reserves.
