Other Possible Worlds – Public Programs

Panel discussion: Sunday 3 July, 2.00pm – 3.30pm
Gain an overview of the Thai art scene and hear an expert panel discussion on contemporary art in Thailand.  The panel will canvass issues surrounding arts infrastructure, the political environment, emerging initiatives such as biennales in non-art spaces and longstanding collective ways of working in Thailand. Bookings required.

Panellists include:
Professor Emeritus John Clark, FAHA – Academic, writer and researcher into Asian art
Dr Matt Cox – Curator of Asian Art, Art Gallery of New South Wales
Dr Haisang Javanalikhikara – Other Possible Worlds curator, course convenor of MA in Curatorial Practice, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok
Dr Clare Veal – Academic and writer with a specialist interest in south-east Asian art, and former lecturer in art history at La Salle College of the Arts, Singapore
Moderated by Jasmin Stephens – Independent curator, writer and researcher based in Sydney

Past events

Artist workshop: Sunday 26 June, 10am – 12.30pm
Embroidery workshop with Thidarat Chantachua. No experience is necessary but participants are invited to bring a textile with special significance to them. All other materials will be provided. Limited spaces, bookings essential.


Gallery talks: Sunday 26 June, 2.30pm – 4pm
Co-curators Haisang Javanalikhikara (Chulalongkorn University Bangkok) and John Cruthers (director, 16 albermarle Project Space) will give an introductory talk about the key works and concepts in Other Possible Worlds, followed by talks by visiting artists Thidarat Chantachua and Tada Hengsapkul. Bookings required.
