Weekly Sport Wrap Up – Tough Round Against Knox with Highlights Across Program
A full round of winter sport saw Trinity teams travel to Knox, with results proving challenging across most codes. The program recorded an overall 30% win rate against Knox, although there were several strong performances, particularly in the junior age groups.
Chess began on Friday night with two wins from three matches. The Senior team recorded a solid win against Sydney Technical High School, while the Intermediate team claimed a convincing 4–0 victory over Meriden. The Junior team was defeated.
Rugby faced a difficult round overall, with losses in both the 1st XV and 2nd XV fixtures. However, the Under 13 and Under 14 age groups produced an excellent set of results, sweeping Knox across those divisions. There were standout individual performances in the 14As and 14Bs, with hat-tricks scored by Laini Paea and Isaac Eljouni.
Football also faced a challenging round. The 1st XI went down 0–4, while the 2nd XI maintained their strong form with a 4–2 win and remain undefeated this season. Across the junior teams, there were positive results, including five goals from Anson Vella in the 7As and a hat-trick from Charlie Campbell in the 7Fs.
In AFL, Trinity recorded one win from its fixtures. The Year 9/10 team produced a strong performance to defeat Waverley 58–22.
Tennis found success primarily in the lower divisions, with wins recorded by the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th IV teams, as well as the 8A side. The senior teams were unable to overcome strong Knox opposition.
Volleyball also faced a tough round, with narrow losses in both the 1st and 2nd VI fixtures. Despite this, there were wins across the program, including the 4th VI, 15B and 13B teams.
Cross Country competed at the Sydney Grammar Invitational, with Trinity producing solid performances across all age groups. The Opens finished ninth overall and second among CAS schools, the Under 16s placed sixth overall, and the Under 14s finished fourth overall. A highlight of the day was Alexander Miller’s win in the Junior race.
There were also representative honours announced, with Joel Pagano selected in the NSW All Schools AFL team. Trinity will also be well represented in the upcoming CAS v GPS Cross Country event, with students selected across Opens, Intermediate and Junior divisions.
