Weekly Sport Wrap Up – Consistent performances across multiple codes
Trinity recorded a solid weekend of results, finishing with a 60% win rate across 67 fixtures contested against Cranbrook. Strong performances in Football, Tennis and Volleyball led the round, with junior teams again contributing heavily to overall results.
Football produced one of the more consistent sets of results. While the 1st XI went down 0–1 and the 2nd XI drew 1–1, Trinity’s Year 9 and Year 8 age groups performed remarkably well. The 7F side recorded a 6–1 win, with Charlie Campbell scoring four goals, while the 8H team secured their first win of the season with a 4–0 result. Harry Mavromatis also converted a notable free kick in an 8F victory.
Rugby faced Cranbrook with mixed results. The 1st XV and 2nd XV were both defeated on Friday night at Forshaw Rugby Park, but there were wins throughout the programme, including the 16As, 15As, 14As, 14Bs, 13As and 13Bs. The 13A team produced one of the closer results of the round, coming from behind to win by a single try, with Remy Wells contributing a try and four conversions. In the 14As, Nolan Grantham played a key role, scoring twice and converting nine from eleven attempts.
In AFL, the senior side faced a strong Newington team and went down 42–136, with Oscar Rudd a consistent contributor both defensively and in attack, finishing with two goals. The junior squads experienced mixed results, with the Year 9/10 side battling hard in a tough loss, while the Year 7/8 group had a bye.
Tennis delivered a strong response against Cranbrook. The 1st IV secured a 5–3 win, while the 2nd IV narrowly lost on games despite level sets. The 8A team continued their undefeated season with a 4–2 win, while the 3rd IV secured a tight result after Jonathan Nung’s 6–0 singles win proved decisive when sets were locked.
Volleyball also returned positive results, winning all five matches played against Cranbrook. The 1st VI recorded a 3–1 victory, while strong performances continued across multiple age groups.
Cross Country competed at the St Joseph’s Invitational at Riverglade Reserve, with Trinity placing second overall in the Opens and first among CAS schools. The Under 16 and Under 14 teams both finished fourth overall, placing second within CAS. Kobe Stewart finished second overall in the Opens, with Sam Oliver also placing in the top ten, while Nathan Jones recorded a top‑five finish in the Intermediates.
Chess continued its season with a draw for the Seniors and a strong 4–0 win for the Junior team against Sydney Girls High.
In Debating, the Senior B team progressed to the semi‑finals of the ISDA competition with a win over Scots. In FED competition, the 8A team advanced to the semi‑finals following their quarter‑final victory, while other teams concluded their campaigns at that stage.
