Balance is the key – Trinity helped make the “best version of myself”
Maintaining an even keel helped Adam Tennant negotiate the complexities of a successful HSC year.
Now, as he enters what he calls the “real world”, his chances of finding a similarly productive work/life balance look good.
“My strategy was to maintain a healthy balance between study and co-curriculars,” he explained.
“I prioritised study during exam periods, but when things were quieter I allowed myself time to focus on sport and other activities.
“Managing time between multiple commitments was challenging, but staying organised and planning ahead helped me stay on top of things.
“I was quite independent in my study habits, but whenever I needed help I always turned to my teachers for advice and guidance.
“The teachers are excellent — always supportive, encouraging, and willing to help whenever you need it.
“Trinity is a great place to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually.
“It provides excellent academic support and incredible sporting opportunities.
“It’s a school that really helps you become the best version of yourself.
“I’m most proud of how much I’ve improved academically while maintaining strong relationships with my friends and the wider Trinity community.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Trinity and am grateful for everything it has given me.”
The co-curriculars he made time for included community service and Cadets but were dominated by Basketball.
“Basketball Specialist was definitely my favourite.
“It helped me improve my game, stay fit, develop teamwork, and build lasting friendships.
“It was something I genuinely loved, especially the Gold Coast trip with the Seconds squad.
“My greatest achievement at school was being part of the undefeated premiers in the CAS Seconds.
“Outside of school, I’m proud of my personal growth and commitment to improving myself.”
His favourite academic subjects were Maths, because he has always been good with numbers, and Economics, because it connects directly to “real-world situations”.
He chose the HSC mainly because of the Business Accelerated Program, which gave him the chance to complete a subject early and gain experience before Year 12. He found his workload manageable but some subjects, notably Extension Maths and Advanced English, required more time and focus.
Adam hopes to study Commerce/Law at university and to pursue a career in the law, finance or accounting.
He is inspired by the dedication and discipline of athletes like NBA star Steph Curry and golfer Bryson DeChambeau. But his greatest encouragement comes from his parents, his pilot father and optometrist mother, for their “hard work and the example they set”.
