Co-curricular staff shine beyond Trinity – Experience that elevates every Co-curricular pursuit

Trinity’s Co-curricular program has always been an integral part of the student experience, but for the staff who support students in their Co-curricular support, it’s also an opportunity for them to share their experiences beyond academics.

Why Co-curricular matters

Education has never been only about academics, nor can it only be measured by official results on a page. The Trinity mission and ethos references the importance of challenge and support across the breadth of education.

Trinity’s Co-curricular program exists to offer students opportunities to explore their interests, discover what they are capable of, and to grow in mind, body, and spirit, complementing their academic learning.

With a wide range of activities on offer, students have the opportunity to pursue options that engage, challenge, and excite, in equal measure. Each activity consists of a unique combination of students and it often offers up an opportunity to connect with different students, making new friends, and pushing them to explore outside of their own friendship group.

Not only does this experience extend their social relationships, it also means that new perspectives are on offer, with the boys learning from each other and just as much as they learn from their chosen activity and the staff involved.

The power of experienced staff

What sets Trinity’s program apart is the calibre of the people who lead it. Our Co-curricular staff are not only educators – they are professionals who bring real-world expertise into every interaction. National coaches, elite athletes, accomplished musicians, and seasoned performers share insights from the highest levels of their fields, enriching the experience for every student.

Take Mr Benjamin Tuxford, Trinity’s Director of Swimming, who also coaches Australian national teams. His experience at the elite level means our swimmers benefit from cutting-edge training methods and motivational strategies drawn from the world stage. Or Mr Chris Moran, an internationally recognised trumpeter and seven-time Australian National Trumpet Champion, who inspires young musicians by modelling excellence and sharing insights from global competitions. In sport, Mr Matt Wade not only leads Athletics and Cross Country at Trinity but also oversees the independent Trinity Athletics Club, creating pathways for students and alumni to continue their development beyond school. In the performing arts, Ms Emma Thompson, Coordinator of Debating and Public Speaking, brings her experience from international championships to help students think critically and communicate with confidence.

Co-curricular pursuits at Trinity are about more than achievement; they are about growth. Every rehearsal, training session, and competition is a chance to learn, improve, and contribute to something bigger than oneself. It’s this culture that makes Trinity’s Co-curricular program exceptional – and why we invest in staff whose experience elevates every pursuit.
