Weekly Sports Roundup – Strong Start to Summer Sport

Trinity made an excellent start to the CAS summer season, recording wins in every 1st and 2nd Grade fixture across Basketball, Cricket, Tennis, Volleyball, and Water Polo.

Basketball opened the season with two outstanding performances. The 1st V defeated St Aloysius’ 78–61, led by Zeke Kho (10Ar) with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. The 2nd V showed great composure to overturn a 15-point deficit and claim a 57–53 win in the final minutes. The Year 9 teams also impressed, winning 10 of 12 matches.

Volleyball continued its strong momentum, highlighted by a clean sweep across the Opens age group. The 1st VI recorded a dominant 3–0 win and the 2nd VI followed with a 3–1 victory, showcasing consistency and control cross both teams.

In Tennis, both senior teams began in fine form. The 1st IV won 6/44–2/27 and the 2nd IV claimed an 8/48–0/20 victory. Further wins to the 10B, 10C, 10D, 9B, 9C, 9D, and 8A teams demonstrated promising depth across the age groups.

The Opens Touch Football sides faced tough opposition, with the Open A and Open B teams defeated by Waverley and Barker respectively. There were positive results in the younger divisions, including wins to the 15A, 15B, and 14A teams, while the 14B team drew 2–2.

Cricket is well placed after the opening day of two-day fixtures against Knox and St Aloysius’. The 1st XI reached 9/322, thanks to a superb 158 from Jayden Paskaranathan (9Du) and 65 from Kingston Huang (11Du). In the 2nd XI, Knox posted 9/357, with Robbie Clarke (9B) scoring his second consecutive half-century. Junior highlights included Ethan Chen (9Ar) taking 4–16, Dylan Paskaranathan (7Du) scoring 85, Andrew Walker (9Fo) making 68, and Oliver Cheney (7Sc) adding 50.

Trinity’s Water Polo teams also began strongly, with the 1st VII winning 17–10 and the 2nd VII triumphing 8–5.
