Renewal Project | October update

As ever, the school holidays offer the opportunity to make great headway with the Renewal Project. Plus, the weather has been fantastic which means it’s full steam ahead while the students enjoy a well-earned break. 

Throughout September, primary structure works continued, seeing the completion of the Level 1 Pour 1, as well as Ground Floor Pours 4–6 between Quad and the Teaching & Learning Building. 

The first pours on Ground Floor and Level 1 were celebrated with barbecue for the construction workers and on-site team as a big thank you for their efforts. A collaboration between Taylor Construction and Trinity Grammar School, the event was a success and a great show of appreciation for the work done. 

This progress has allowed formwork to continue for the remaining Level 1 and Level 2 slabs. 

Form, reinforcement, and concrete pour (FRP) works to the Level 2 Pour 1 have begun, along with the double height column installation. 

Lift 1 has now been poured – from Level 0 to Level 1 – with formwork being jumped for the next section, while the shaft structure for Lift 2 is now complete. 

FRP works to Ground Floor Pour 6 (Southern End) are underway with blockwork supports now complete. 

Within the Quad Building, the effective completion of wall framing and lining to one side has allowed services rough-in to progress throughout walls and ceiling on all levels. 

On the design front, the Renewal Project team are finalising structural shop drawings (suspended slab and structural steel) with façade shop drawings undergoing coordination.

Earlier this year some Year 11 Building and Construction students were given the chance to take part in a site visit to the Taylor Construction compound and undergo WH&S induction onto a construction site – a real-life experience that can help shape their expectations for working life.
