Year 12 students recognised for outstanding work across disciplines

As the end of the year draws near, Trinity has received word that Year 12 students have been nominated for possible inclusion in the NSW Education Standards Authority exhibitions showcasing the exemplary work of this year’s cohort. 

Being nominated is a great honour and, while there will be a nerve-wracking wait to find out if they are included in the final exhibitions, nomination is an achievement worth celebrating. 

Get a taste of the works that have been nominated, across various disciplines at Trinity: 

ENCORE | Music

ENCORE is a presentation of selected outstanding major works by HSC Music students. This year, Trinity has been informed that Victor S has been nominated for possible inclusion in the 2025 ENCORE Showcase, to be held at the Sydney Opera House in March 2026. 

Victor’s composition, ‘Blue Siren’ was written for Piano and Oboe. Victor used his own knowledge of the Piano as the basis for the work and chose the Oboe as a favoured instrument to include as he liked the tone colour. 

720 students sat for HSC Music 2 in 2025, and all of them submitted a two-minute Core Composition. All incredible young musicians, this is the pool of work from which Victor’s work was chosen. 

20 items will be chosen for the concert stage, and two or three of these will be compositions. No matter the result, being nominated is a huge achievement and a recognition of Victor’s hard work and dedication to his piece.

Art Express | Visual Arts

Trinity was delighted to be informed that three students from the 2025 Cohort of Visual Arts’ students have been nominated for consideration in ARTEXPRESS. Nomination is an incredible achievement and a testament to their creativity, vision, and commitment throughout their HSC year. Each body of work represents countless hours of thought, experimentation, and refinement – an extraordinary effort that deserves recognition. We also acknowledge the invaluable guidance and encouragement provided by our Visual Arts staff throughout their HSC journey.

HSC Expressive Form – Photomedia | Brendan H

In ‘An Endless Pursuit – For Better or Worse’, Brendan H explores the emotional physical strains faced by young athletes. Drawn from his own personal experience of pressure and burnout, Brendan says “many athletes find themselves endlessly chasing perfection and some lose themselves to it”. 

Through his submitted piece, Brendan hopes that “the beauty of these images ultimately shows hope for their dreams, but at what cost?” 

HSC Expressive Form: Collection of Works | Jasper N 

3 digital panels; 8 smaller panels – 4 with 3D forms integrated – and a film. 

Rooted in Biblical theology, specifically Romans 1:10 (“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”), Jasper N’s work is designed to inspire reverence, awe, and praise in response to creation. 

Jaspers says that his work, ‘A General Revelation’, “serves to show the hand of God through the divine beauty of His creation”. 

HSC Expressive Form – Painting | James S 

Through his work, ‘Turn that Filth Off’, James S aimed to provide “a voice for the marginalised in our communities” and elucidate “the ancestry of filth and cult media in contemporary society”. He says that as a fan of cult films and the labels that often come with them, he has become more aware of “the power they have to provide a safe space of belonging and connection for ‘outsiders’ who have faced rejection from mainstream media and society”. 

Each portrait’s subject was chosen to represent how each of us is informed by previous generations and have our own role to play in shaping future generations. James says that he was strongly motivated “to explore the roots from which I owe my own personality and knowledge”. 

SHAPE | Industrial Technology

Due to be held across March and April in 2026, the SHAPE exhibition will be delivered in partnership with the University of Technology (UTS) and will be held in the foyer of Building 1, UTS Main Campus. 

Those nominated for inclusion have produced works from Design and Technology, Industrial Technology, or Textiles and Design. 

Industrial Technology | Austin Daher – rustic modern credenza

This elegant credenza demonstrates craftsmanship through its dovetail drawers fitted with push-to-open runners, providing seamless functionality. The credenza has sliding doors with woven timber insets, adding texture and warmth to the design while maintaining a sophisticated, modern look.

Industrial Technology | Fouad Deiri – cigar humidor

This project is a handcrafted cigar humidor that combines traditional joinery with modern preservation techniques to create an elegant and functional storage solution for cigars. The humidor features a controlled humidity environment, a drop-in insert to isolate and protect cigars, and two small drawers with hand-cut dovetail joints for accessories or tools.

Industrial Technology | Hugo Favelle – copper inlay jewellery box

This exquisite walnut jewellery box features a solid walnut carcass that showcases meticulously crafted dovetail drawers, reflecting timeless joinery and durability. Copper inlay is used throughout the project, adding a warm, elegant contrast to the rich wood grain. The piece is completed with handmade brass handles, offering both functionality and a touch of artisanal charm.

Industrial Technology | Alexander Mickler – coffee table with tambour doors

This coffee table is a celebration of fine craftsmanship and timeless design. Featuring two elegant tambour doors, it showcases the exquisite grain of the timber. A dovetailed drawer, meticulously constructed and adorned with handmade handles, sits at the centre, offering both function and beauty. The entire carcass is assembled using traditional housing joints, ensuring lasting strength and a refined aesthetic. Softly rounded corners lend a sense of warmth and approachability, enhancing both the tactile experience and the visual flow of the piece.

Design and Technology | Cameron Mock – epinephrine injector 

Designed an epinephrine injector that is easy to carry and more portable than existing brands, ultimately increasing the percentage of anaphylaxis patients who carry their epinephrine injector. 

OnSTAGE | Drama

The OnSTAGE exhibition presents a selection of outstanding major works by HSC Drama students across all of NSW, including both individual and group performances. 

Trinity is pleased to share that several of Year 12 HSC Drama students have been nominated for possible inclusion in OnSTAGE. These nominations reflect the creativity, discipline and skill of our students.

Ewan F, Aidan R and Victor S have been nominated for their Group Performance of Gone Fishing.

In addition, Ewan F has also received a nomination for his Individual Performance of Frankenstein.
