Snowsports Success: Trinity Athletes Excel at State and National Competitions
The NSW Interschools Snowsports Championships at Perisher was a memorable week for Trinity Grammar athletes, with strong performances across multiple disciplines showcasing the depth and spirit of the school’s program.
Highlights included the Division 6 Ski Cross team of Kayden P, Mason X, and Evan Y, who claimed an impressive 3rd place finish against more than 60 competitors and 15 teams, securing qualification for Nationals. The same trio, joined by Zayn A, also contested the Division 6 Alpine event, placing 6th overall, with Kayden leading individually in 14th.
Other notable performances came from across the year groups. Mason X represented Trinity in the Division 5 Snowboard Giant Slalom, while James M made a determined debut in Division 4 Cross Country. In senior events, Charlie T produced a strong Division 1 Snowboard Cross run, and Devon Y tackled the Division 3 Moguls in challenging conditions.
The Championships tested athletes with both bluebird days and harsh weather, but Trinity competitors consistently demonstrated skill, resilience, and teamwork. Their efforts contributed to a 7th place overall finish in the Schools Points Score Championship, an outstanding achievement against a large and competitive field.
Beyond results, the week highlighted the culture of support and camaraderie within Trinity Snowsports. Athletes encouraged each other through tough conditions, celebrated podium finishes, and gained valuable experience for future competitions.
At the National Interschools Snowsports Championships, the Division 6 team of Kayden, Mason, and Evan again represented Trinity proudly. In the Alpine Teams Competition, they placed 11th overall, while in the Ski Cross Teams Competition they finished 13th. A very commendable result against the very best competitors from across Australia.
With podium success, top ten team results, and Nationals experience now under their belts, the Championships reflected both the growing strength of Trinity’s program and the determination of its athletes. Trinity Snowsports continues to build momentum for the future.
