Rugby Schoolboys swap Green and White for Green and Gold
Congratulations to Will T and Brock P on their selection in the Australian Schoolboys Rugby team. Following on from their strong performances in the National Schoolboys Rugby Championships on the Sunshine Coast during the Term 2 Holidays our boys will now represent their country in three fixtures at the conclusion of Term 3.
After beginning the season at fullback in the 1st XV, Will made the move to outside centre and excelled with his ball running and high work rate. His performances for Trinity would see him rewarded with selection in the CAS 2nd XV, where he was pivotal in their victory over the GPS. While he missed out on selection in the NSW Schools 1st or 2nd XV sides, he earned a spot in the NSW Juniors XV, who also took part in the National Championships. Will’s admirable team first attitude and impressive resilience saw him feature at outside centre, fullback and wing for the NSW Junior side on their way to a 4th place finish. His performances for the NSW Junior side saw him rewarded with a Gold Jersey and we are all very proud of not only his achievement, but his relentless positivity during a selection process that didn’t always go his way. He is a perfect example of resilience and determination for our young men to follow.
While Brock’s journey to a Gold Jersey was more straight forward, it is certainly no less impressive. After starring on the wing for the NSW Waratah’s Under 18’s side at the beginning of the year, Brock made the move to fullback for Trinity, where he starred for the 1st XV. For the second successive year he won both the 1st XV Players Player award, and the 1st XV Best & Fairest award. These performances saw him rewarded with selection at fullback in the CAS 1st XV, where he again starred during their victories over CHS, ISA, and GPS 1st XV sides. He would then be selected on the wing for the NSW Schoolboys 1st XV, scoring a try in the final to secure a National Championship, and ultimately a Gold Jersey.
We now look forward to seeing them represent Trinity on the international stage, as they take on an Australian Under 18 side on the 25th of September, before a two-test series against Fiji Schoolboys, with games on the 29th of September and the 4th of October.
