Weekend Sports Roundup – A Green and White Weekend
This weekend delivered a string of standout sporting moments. From dominant rugby wins to football thrillers and powerful volleyball rallies. Strong performances also came from AFL, cross country, and more, in what was a display of athleticism, teamwork, and individual brilliance across the board.
On the rugby field, the First XV secured a commanding 39–12 win over Kinross, while the Second XV followed suit with a 21–10 victory. Across the junior grades, Trinity recorded wins in the 16A/B, 15A/B/C, 14A/B, and 13A/C teams, reflecting the depth of talent in the program.
Football teams continued their winning momentum against Waverley. The First XI secured a 3–1 victory, placing them in the box seat to claim this year’s premiership trophy, while the Second XI delivered a dominant 6–0 performance. A highlight came from the 9Es, who celebrated their first win of the season with a 2–1 triumph. Ishan Padmanesan (9Ke) scored both goals, and Arvin Lin (9We) impressed in his debut as goalkeeper.
In AFL, the First XVIII defeated Riverview 82–52 in a strong victory, while the year 9/10 team fell to Riverview and 7/8s to Waverley.
Volleyball saw the First VI overcome Waverley 3–1 in a continuation of their dominant season.
Trinity’s cross-country squad excelled at our annual Trinity Relays event at Ewen Park, with the Intermediate team claiming gold.
Several students also earned representative honours over the last few weeks. Brock Prideaux (12Wh) delivered a standout performance for the NSW Schools First XV, helping secure the national title. Sione Lua (12St), Marcus Mastro (12Mu) and Will Trostel (12Hi) also featured prominently, representing both NSW and Sydney Juniors. Meanwhile, Joshua Falato (12Sc) has been selected to compete for the NSW All Schools Football team in Brisbane.
