Weekend Sports Roundup – Rugby teams on top

Trinity’s rugby firsts held a handy lead when their match against Cranbrook was abandoned due to injury to an opposition player later cleared of any serious problem.

Trinity led 26-5 when the Friday night match at Easts Rugby Park was called off at half-time.

The good news is the Cranbrook player in question has since been cleared of any major injury.

Brock Prideaux (12WH) ran in two tries for Trinity, with Logan Toohey (12Ke), and Cody Ramanauskas (11Ke) adding one each.

The seconds won 12-10, with tries to Hugo France (11WH) and Zac Tashtan (11Ke), and the 16As won 32-0 before wet weather forced the cancellation of all rugby on Saturday.

The football firsts were undefeated in their blitz matches at Lane Cove, beating Knox 1-0, Cranbrook 1-0, and Waverley 3-1, and drawing 2-2 with Barker.

The 7A, 8A, 9A, and 10A Blitzes were all cancelled.

Trinity’s top cross-country runners in a competition for mudlarks were Josh Lubke (11Ta) in the seniors (16th overall and sixth in CAS), Oscar Hannan (10Fo) in the intermediates (12th overall and sixth in CAS), and James E in the juniors (fifth overall and third in CAS).

Debating teams scored six wins and six losses, with victories to the Senior As and Bs against Knox and the Senior As, Year 10s, Year 9s, and Year 8s against St Andrew’s.

The basketball firsts scored a stirring away victory, defeating Kings 93-74 in a semi-final of the CIS competition.

More than 50 Trinity students made the journey to support the team, which excelled before a vast home crowd.
