Firsts and seconds show the way
Trinity’s firsts and seconds teams made a clean sweep of victories in all sports against St Aloysius – basketball, water polo, tennis, and volleyball – as the School maintained its strong recent record with 41 wins overall against 19 losses.
The basketball firsts squeezed home by one point in a 66-65 thriller, the tennis firsts won 5-3, water polo 20-6, and volleyball 3-0.
The cricket firsts also notched a win, dismissing Barker for 152 before posting 7/205, with Xander Carstens (10Ke) unfortunately run out just one run short of a century.
There were also wins for the thirds, 8As, and 8Bs, where Rahid Chowdury (7Fo) and Robbie Clark (7Ta) put on a 70-run opening stand to set up victory.
The basketball seconds won 61-40 and the 8Es remain undefeated, partly thanks to a three-pointer from just inside the halfway line from Timmy Zhao (7Yo).
The Year 9s finished with a perfect 10/10 record as the 9Js won their first game of season against Scots, led by great shooting from Claudio Luzzani (8Ta).
Trinity won all six Opens tennis matches, with the seconds backing up the firsts with a 7-1 result.
Touch football had a tougher time against Newington, the only victory in nine matches coming in the Open Bs, thanks to a Cristos Caridi (10Sc) second-half double which sealed a 3-1 win.
