Prep violinist at uni honours level – Cayden’s latest diploma
Preparatory School violinist Cayden T continues to garner musical honours far beyond his years – his latest is a university level performance diploma from London’s Trinity College.
The 11-year-old received his LTCL diploma from the British High Commissioner to Malaysia at a ceremony for Asia-Pacific graduates in Kuala Lumpur.
The diploma is ranked as a level six qualification in the UK, which is the same as a Bachelors Degree with honours.
It is equivalent in standard to the final year recital of an undergraduate degree.
His father Chris said: “He found it quite funny he got to dress ‘like a teacher on speech day’ with the gown and academic hood.”
He thanked Trinity for its “ongoing support in Cayden’s music journey”.
Cayden became one of the youngest ever recipients of Australia’s A.MusA (Associate in Music) diploma at the age of nine.
That diploma is awarded to outstanding candidates in the fields of musical performance and theory by the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB).
Cayden is already a seasoned performer who has been a soloist at Trinity’s annual Gala Concerts as well as a member of a number of school musical ensembles.
As a nine-year-old he appeared at a recital at the DiMenna Centre for Classical Music, home of New York’s St Luke’s Orchestra, after winning an invitation at a competition in Sydney.
