Weekend Sports Roundup – Table tennis clean sweep

A half-century in cricket, a half-court three-pointer in basketball, and a full slate of victories in table tennis were among the highlights in weekend sport.

But successes were at a premium against Cranbrook as Trinity teams ended up with 39 wins against 66 losses.

Xander Casterns (10Ke) scored 53 as the Firsts slumped to 132 all out in reply to 8/212, one of nine losses in the 11 cricket fixtures.

Sam Dawes-Everett (7Fo) landed a half-court buzzer-beater for the 7Js in a great 20-point win, and Year 8 teams won 9 of their 10 basketball games.

The Firsts also won a tight contest 75-71 but that was one of just 15 victories against 34 losses.

Table tennis produced a 6-0 clean sweep over Newington, with Trinity teams winning 23 of the 30 games overall.

The volleyball Firsts and Seconds both registered wins against Cranbrook while the Thirds drew.

Trinity tennis teams went down 7-13 overall, with wins to the Sixths, 10B, 10D, 8A, 8B, 7A, and 7Bs.

The Thirds won in water polo, along with the 11As and 16Bs, but there were six losses, including the Firsts by 10-20.

Touch football ended all square at four wins apiece.
