Weekend Sports Roundup – Personnel shortages bring out the best

Trinity’s First XV held on for a game 17-17 draw against St Patrick’s despite playing most of the match a man short.

That was among the highlights of a tough weekend of sport in which Trinity teams managed 20 wins, against 39 losses and 11 draws, from their 70 fixtures.

Another notable achievement came in cross country where, with another man down in the open section, Regan Chapman (12He) ran two legs rather than see his team fail to finish; they came second.

The under 16s also placed second and the under 14s first.

The rugby draw enabled Trinity to square the ledger with St Pat’s, coming away with seven wins, seven losses and two draws.

AFL registered  a clean sweep, the open team defeating Redlands 82-2, the intermediates beating Newington 57-17 and the juniors piping Waverley 33-32.

But the football, volleyball, and tennis teams all had a tough time against Knox, with none of the firsts winning.
