Year 3 Band Program
The Year 3 Band Program will cease next Friday 18th November as Week 7 is Orientation Day for 2023 and Prize Giving is scheduled for Friday Week 8. Students are reminded to have their instruments at school that day so they can be handed in and checked before being sent for cleaning in readiness for the Program in 2023. Thanks to all the hard work from the Summer Hill Instrumental Staff in making this program the most successful regarding the uptake for Private Tuition. Students who are using School instruments for that program must also hand these back and speak to the Instrumental Teacher concerning purchasing your own for next year.
Year 1 and 2 String Concerts
In Week 8 the Year 1 and Year 2 students will present their end of term concerts. Thanks to all the string Instrumental Teachers for their work with the boys this year. All Year 2 students who are not learning in the Private Tuition Program will return their instruments at the conclusion of the concert.
Christmas Service
Since the beginning of this term all year levels have been preparing a piece for the Christmas Service to be held on Monday 28th November. Commencing at 5pm. Throughout that day all year levels will be rehearsing for this event. Trinity Singers and Chapel Band are to arrive back at school by 4pm and meet in the following venues for a warm-up, Chapel Band – Heritage Room, Trinity Singers -Christian Studies Room.
Mozart Strings/Beethoven Strings
On Wednesday 23rd November from 3:45pm-4pm Mozart Strings and Beethoven Strings will present a short 15-minute end of year concert for parents. Students will be required to be tuned and set from 3:30pm and the doors to the Mozart Room will not open to parents until just before the presentation. Thanks to Mrs McCluney, Ms Vieira, Ms Cross and Mrs Swanton for their work with these ensembles this year.
New Ensembles for 2023
As we look towards 2023, I am pleased to announce new music ensembles including Prep Orchestra (Wednesday afternoons), Kindy Choir (TBC), Year 6 Rock Band (Monday 1st Break) Woodwind/Brass Ensemble (Friday 1st Break). The full rehearsal schedule will be included in next week’s Prep News, so stay tuned! Boys currently in Year 5 who would like to be part of the Rock Band in Year 6, please see Mrs Campbell or Ms Vieira to express your interest. We require vocalists, guitarists, drummers, saxophonists, keyboard player etc. Auditions will be held in Week 2 on Wednesday 8th February for string players – Grade 3 standard and above. Please prepare a piece and sightreading will be given that afternoon. Please register your interest with Mrs Campbell or Ms Vieira ASAP.
