Trinity provides a wide range of opportunities in its academic, sporting and co-curricular programmes for our students to learn about themselves and to prepare them for whatever they choose to pursue when they leave School.

One of these opportunities is through the School Based Traineeship Programme. When Year 10 students make the decision about their Year 11 and 12 subjects, if they have chosen a Vocational Education and Training (VET) subject they may also apply to undertake a traineeship during their final years at School.

This Programme has been operating at Trinity since 2014 and has provided excellent work and training opportunities that have helped boys make decisions about their pathways beyond School. Completing a two-year traineeship, mastering recognised VET subject-related skills while studying for their HSC, provides these boys with a unique opportunity to experience real-time work challenges that contribute to their final accreditation when they finish Year 12.

Currently we have three Year 11 School Based Trainees – two working in Hospitality and one in Construction – and next year we have a further four boys who have applied for this Programme as Construction trainees.

We value the partnerships that Trinity forges with the businesses who employ our trainees and know that the contribution that our students make to their kitchens, restaurants and work sites is valued.
