SYDNEY OLYMPIC PARK ATHLETICS CENTRE (SOPAC),

THURSDAY 15 SEPTEMBER, 2022

It is COMPULSORY for all boys  in Years  9, 10 and 11

Boys will travel by bus from TGS to Sydney Olympic Park.

Depart TGS at 1:15pm

Finish at Sydney Olympic Park by 8:15pm (Approx.)

Boys may also be picked-up at TGS by 8:45pm (Approx.)

Please arrange to meet your son in the school car park (entry via Victoria St)

There will be a quad assembly for the athletes at 10:50am after which the athletes will depart by bus from Prospect Road. All boys in Years 9, 10 and 11 will travel to SOPAC by bus from School, departing at 1:15pm. All students are to wear a face mask on the bus. Students are not permitted to drive to or from the Championships.

The Championships will finish at approximately 8:15pm. The buses will be leaving as soon as possible thereafter and return to the Summer Hill Campus at approximately 8:45pm. At the end of the Championships parent’s can make arrangements to pick up their son at the end of the Championships by indicating this on the Parent Portal. Students not returning to Trinity must be collected by their Parents or Guardian as students are NOT to use public transport to make their way home.

Parents who collect their sons from SOPAC will have to park in one of the car parks while waiting for their son to leave the Centre in the evening, as there will not be any room for cars to park outside of the Athletics Centre.

Parents will not be able to collect their sons before the end of the CAS Track and Field Championships as it is discourteous for boys to leave before the end of the Championships. All boys should support their School Track and Field Team right to the very end.

Winter uniform including blazer is to be worn to the Championships. Boys should be ready to be actively involved in cheering, thus supporting our athletes. All electronic devices and reading material, etc will be confiscated.  Mobile phones can be taken but must be switched off during the Championships.  The phones may be kept in the student’s pocket.

Students in Years 7, 8 and 12 can voluntarily attend by having their  parent/guardian email rnunez@trinity.nsw.edu.au by Thursday 8th September with your son’s full name, year and house. Access to the parent portal for parental consent and transport arrangements will then be given.

Food and drink can be purchased at the Centre, however it would be an advantage to bring food and drink, as the lines at the Canteen can be very long.  No school bags are to be taken to the Championships (these are to remain in the student’s locker) and definitely no glass bottles.

If there is a legitimate reason for your son not to attend the Championships, parents are encouraged to email the Head of the Middle School (Yr 9) or Head of the Senior School (Yrs 10 & 11) requesting permission. Boys in Years 9 to 11 who are unable to attend the Championships will be expected to attend and give support to an alternate non-compulsory School event at a later date.
