2022 NSW Junior State SC (Short Course) Swimming Championships – SOPAC
3rd-4th September 2022
Students from Preparatory, Junior and Middle Schools represented Trinity Grammar School at the NSW Junior State SC Swimming Championships. They competed in a total of 43 individual events and two relays.
These championships bring together the best junior swimmers in the state to compete for the title of NSW Junior State SC Champion 2022. Our students raced beautifully winning the Men’s point score. 1st Trinity Grammar: 853 points, 2nd PLC Sydney: 659, 3rd Knox Pymble: 650. Overall, Trinity was 5th in the combined point score. Thank you to the boys and their parents for their hard work and commitment to achieve these fantastic results.
Joshua Kang (7We) raced well under pressure winning the 12 years 100 Butterfly (1:03.05) and 12 years 50 Freestyle (26.38). After each race Joshua graciously congratulates his competitors no matter the result. This is nice to witness, a true representation of his pleasant demeanour.
Competing in 8 individual events Christopher Montana (7He), was able to use his training capacities to the fullest, winning emphatically in the 12 years 100 Breaststroke (1:11.10), 12 years 200 Backstroke (2:18.02), 12 Years 200 Individual Medley (2:21.68), 12 years 200 Breaststroke (2:37.91) and 12 years 100 Backstroke (1:04.01). Christopher works hard at every training session, while combining his busy weekly schedule. He is a talented swimmer, willing to put in the effort.
Having just returned from another championship meet in Brisbane two weeks prior (School Sport Australian Swimming Championships 15-20 August 2022), Sterling Tuxford (8WH) maintained his superb form winning gold in the 13 years 200 Butterfly (2:12.13), 13 years 100 Freestyle (55.23) and 13 years 100 Butterfly (59.73). Sterling auspiciously took on a leadership role, setting a composed and professional example for the young boys in the team.
Our relay swimmers Ashton Lee (8WJ), Christopher Montana (7He), Sterling Tuxford (8WH), Joshua Kang (7We) were a cohesive unit, integrating their finishes and change over dives smoothly to win the 10-13 years Medley Relay (1:56.20).
