Snow Sports News
During the last week of the June / July school holidays, a team of Trinity boys competed in the Sydney Regional Snow Sports Championships at Perisher Valley in the Snowy Mountains. It was great to see the enthusiasm and competitive nature of all the boys that represented Trinity in a variety of events, including Alpine, Skier Cross, Moguls, Snowboard GS, and Snowboard Cross. Each boy competed with an attitude of doing their best and setting the challenge to improve on their race timings.
Overall, the team performed extremely well. There were a number of boys who qualified for the NSW/ACT/QLD State Championships which will be held next week at Perisher. Congratulations to Rory Flanagan (9Fo) who qualified, competing in the particularly challenging Division 2 Moguls event and Devon Yuhao Yan (4Ar) who also qualified in both the Division 5 Alpine and Skier Cross events.
Some other notable results included Daniel Simpson (7Du) and Darren Cai (5Fo) both coming 21st in the moguls event in their respective divisions. In what was an extremely competitive division 2 alpine event, Jayden Skuse (10Ar) ranked 23rd out of 178 competitors.
At the State Championships next week, we have a number of boys competing in the Alpine, Skier Cross, Moguls, Cross Country Classic Team and Relay events and the Ski and Snowboard Slopestyle disciplines. We wish them all the best in their respective events.
It was great to be able to compete again for the first time since 2019, with the last two years of interschools being cancelled due to covid. If you are interested in competing next year, please contact me at mwaters@trinity,nsw.edu.au.
