Grandparents Day Years 1 and 2
Congratulations to Cooper, Marcus, Jayden, Lucas, Aiden and Dhilan for their professional performances before the Grandparents Day Chapel Service on Tuesday morning. Thanks to Ms Vieiera, Ms Welsh and Mrs Swanton for supporting the boys in this valuable additional performing opportunity.
In the primary choir, we are learning to sing through songs from ‘Mary Poppins’. Mary Poppins is a 1964 American musical fantasy film directed by Robert Stevenson and produced by Walt Disney, with songs written and composed by the Sherman Brothers. It has also become a live musical show that is out now. Some of the boys in the choir went to see the live performance, and it was beneficial for their understanding of the song’s meaning in relation to the storyline. So far, we have learnt ‘A Spoonful of Sugar’ and started learning ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite.’ ‘A Spoonful of Sugar’ is an up tempo song sung by Mary Poppins, instructing the two children, Jane and Michael, to clean their room. Although the task is daunting, she tells them, with a good attitude, it can be fun. ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite’ is a song performed at the end of the film when George Banks realises that his family is much more important than his job. He mends his son’s kite and takes his family on a kite-flying outing. The boys are really enjoying these songs and are learning a lot about vocal techniques and co-operating with others in order to create a unified choral sound. There is still space left, and we encourage boys from Years 3-5 to join us on Monday mornings at 7:45am! Please email Ms Isabelle Keyser for further details email@example.com.
The entries have been entered and we will have 23 students sitting face to face piano/violin/cello/viola exams in the October session either at the Preparatory School or Summer Hill. Thanks to the Instrumental Staff for their work in preparing the boys for these external examinations that enable them to continue to work towards a goal.
On Sunday 21st August Trinity Singers and Chapel Band will be involved in the Family Service at the War Memorial Chapel, Summer Hill. If you are able to assist with the choir gowns before and after the service can you please email Mrs Campbell asap. We will travel to Summer Hill next Friday 19th August for a rehearsal. Students should leave class at 12:30pm for a quick bite to eat before departing at 12:50pm. As a result of our absence during lunchtime, please have no lunch orders that day as we will not be back until around 2:50pm.
