Grandparents Day Years 1 and 2
Congratulations to Cooper, Marcus, Jayden, Lucas, Aiden and Dhilan for their professional performances before the Grandparents Day Chapel Service on Tuesday morning. Thanks to Ms Vieiera, Ms Welsh and Mrs Swanton for supporting the boys in this valuable additional performing opportunity.
Primary Choir
In the primary choir, we are learning to sing through songs from ‘Mary Poppins’. Mary Poppins is a 1964 American musical fantasy film directed by Robert Stevenson and produced by Walt Disney, with songs written and composed by the Sherman Brothers. It has also become a live musical show that is out now. Some of the boys in the choir went to see the live performance, and it was beneficial for their understanding of the song’s meaning in relation to the storyline. So far, we have learnt ‘A Spoonful of Sugar’ and started learning ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite.’ ‘A Spoonful of Sugar’ is an up tempo song sung by Mary Poppins, instructing the two children, Jane and Michael, to clean their room. Although the task is daunting, she tells them, with a good attitude, it can be fun. ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite’ is a song performed at the end of the film when George Banks realises that his family is much more important than his job. He mends his son’s kite and takes his family on a kite-flying outing. The boys are really enjoying these songs and are learning a lot about vocal techniques and co-operating with others in order to create a unified choral sound. There is still space left, and we encourage boys from Years 3-5 to join us on Monday mornings at 7:45am! Please email Ms Isabelle Keyser for further details ikeyser@trinity.nsw.edu.au.
