1st XI Vs Barker

On Saturday, 14 May, Trinity’s 1st XI participated in the second round of the CAS competition, where they played against Knox Grammar School. The game started off intensely, with both Knox and Trinity having early shots on target. Luckily, Patrick Williams (12La) displayed excellent goalkeeping and saved all the shots Knox produced in the first half. Likewise, Knox also portrayed good defence, mitigating Trinity’s opportunities on goal, ending the first half in a 0-0 draw. Following the first half, Trinity was eager to gain control of the game. Thankfully Jacob Christou (11St), Isaac Cunningham (12He) and Joshua Yeon (12Ar) were able to combine effectively in midfield and control the tempo of the game for the majority of the second half. Unfortunately, their efforts were short-lived as a brief lapse in concentration allowed Knox to cross a ball into our box, which found its way into the back of the net, making the score 1-0. Despite our best efforts, the Trinity team couldn’t equal the score and the game ended in a 1-0 win to Knox. Although this wasn’t the desired result, the team still showed maturity in their performance. They should take pride in their efforts and build upon this in the games to come.

2nd XI Vs Knox Grammar

The 2nd XI Football team started strongly and confidently against Knox with some excellent attacking play in the first five minutes with flowing attacks, which almost resulted in a goal from Oscar Fryer (11Ta), only to hit the post and bounce agonisingly back into the keeper’s hands. A strong debut from Joel Maher (11Ta) and some strong challenges and a solid performance in midfield from Player of the Match, Alex Delgado (11St), helped to pile on the pressure. The first goal came on 22 minutes from a Trinity Grammar School free kick taken by Joshua Yeon (12Ar), who forced the keeper into a save and Dylan Krsnik (11St) pounced on the loose ball to finish. A lapse in concentration five minutes later allowed Knox to draw level just before halftime. They often say Football is a game of two halves and this described the second half encounter. Knox came out in the second half looking for the vital first goal. Ten minutes into the second half, an excellent move started and finished by the Knox centre forward resulted in a great team goal. Trinity continued to pile on the pressure and search for an equaliser with Joshua Yeon (12Ar) and Jacob Christou (11St) looking to open the defence. With 10 minutes remaining, Michael King (11Ta) had an excellent strike that was saved by the goalkeeper. Unfortunately, the 2nd XI was unable to get the equaliser and the game finished 1-2.

8A Vs Knox Grammar

The Trinity 8A team played very well in a very competitive game. Trinity lost 1-0 conceding after five minutes when a shot crept in past the goalkeeper at the near post. For the rest of the game, Trinity pushed on and were positive in possession, creating goal scoring opportunities, only to be denied by a goalkeeper in form and a scrambling defence. In very hot weather our boys all gave 100% and were unfortunate not to get something from the game.

8B Vs Barker

An under-strength 8Bs were outmatched in trying conditions, conceding two goals in each half. Try as they might, Trinity couldn’t conjure up any real clear scoring chances and defended stoutly not to concede any more than they did. Valiant in defeat, the 0-4 score line didn’t give a true reflection of the effort the boys made in the game. The team is looking forward to next week.

8C Vs Knox Grammar

The 8C team started the game against Knox having conceded within three minutes from a defensive error in possession, but the determination of the team was inspiring. The response from the 8Cs showed character, and support for teammates in troubling scenarios. With a small tactical shift, the boys quickly regained control of the game, consistently putting the Knox goalkeeper under pressure, with many shots coming from Ahmad Aref (8Hi), and Christopher Savva (8Sc). Jonathan Gergis (8WJ) was a standout player in the match, consistently making dynamic, well-timed runs to trouble the opposition defence. Man of the match, however, was David Charas (8Ho) who was calm, yet creative on the ball when playing out, and strong in defence as a Wing-Back in a 3-5-2. Despite the team peppering the inspired Knox keeper, the 8Cs could not find a breakthrough and the match finished 2-0 to the hosts. Many positives can be taken out of the game against Knox, such as shooting when the opportunity arises. We eagerly await our rematch against them later in the season at home in CAS Round 8.

8D Vs Knox Grammar

The 8D team started their game against Knox at a lightning pace, with two stunning team goals, capped off with great finishes from Kendeas Marangou (8WJ) – the man of the match. However, a rapid Knox front line caught our defence off-guard twice in quick succession, equalising the game at 2-2 after just 11 minutes. After settling, Trinity started to control and dictate the pace of the game, thanks to creative flair in build-up by Ashton Lee (8WJ) and Sasha Ratnavadivel (8Du), as well as strong communication and organisation in the defensive line, made up by Lachlan Thich (8Ho), Finn Canadas (8Ar), Jonah Feltaous (8He) and Lucas Huang (8Sc). Against the run of play, Knox scored to take the game to 3-2 in the 37th minute. However, the effort and grit of the 8Ds was exemplary, scoring twice within six minutes with goals coming from Dilan Petrides (8Yo). However, with three minutes left, Knox scored a brilliant header from a corner to equalise the game at 4-4, and this remained the full-time score. We were truly privileged to witness such an entertaining game! The 8Ds can take many positives and lessons from their performance on Saturday!

8E Vs Knox Grammar

The 8E game against Knox was by far our most challenging game this season and the boys managed to come through for a very hard-fought win. The final score was 5-0, but this score line does not reflect how challenging this game was, with Harshal Chuchra (8He) and Peter Galanos (8St) working very hard to defend against their non-stop offensive pressure. The speed of our midfielders allowed us to score on the counter, with Aidan Wong (8Yo) scoring a hat trick of goals off quick breaks. Kahn Ozacardia (8Fo) and Antonio Fara (8He) scored a goal each with both goals being contenders for goal of the season to wrap the game up.
