From the Sportsmaster | Junior School

Dear Parents,

An eventful morning last Saturday greeted us for the commencement of 2022 IPSHA Winter sport, as the weather went wild for a short but nevertheless inopportune time during Saturday morning. We had a mixed day results wise with the 3 winter codes with our Traditional Rugby having 2 losses and a washout. AFL obliterated Barker, Year 4 and Year 5 Football teams had 5 wins from 6 matches, but our Year 6 boys generally found Redlands a bridge too far over at Cremorne.

A reminder about arriving at the ground at least 35 minutes before your son’s match and with all equipment easily accessible at the ground upon arrival. The boys should be ready to warm up 30 minutes before their scheduled match with their coach. Boys arriving just before or during matches as occurred on Saturday is generally unacceptable, particularly if no text to my sports master’s mobile has not been forthcoming.

Junior School Morning Training Sessions

As outdoor facilities are of a premium, we have re-assigned days for before school training sessions.

Monday – Years 4-6 Traditional Rugby and 5A Football will train 7-8am starting next week (9 May) on No. 1 oval at school.

Wednesday – 4A & 6A Football will train starting next week for Year 4, and the following week for Year 6 (due to the Canberra excursion). These will also be on No. 1 oval until No. 2 has re-opened.

Please arrive at 6:55am for all 7am sessions so boys are ready to go at 7am.

AFL will hold their additional session on Wednesday lunchtimes, commencing in Week 4 (18 May).

Intra Sport: The first weekend of Winter Intra saw boys in 12 teams from Junior & Preparatory Schools compete in small-sided Football matches. We will be looking for the boys to continue to improve their skills in this focussed sport which will run for all Saturdays of term two at Bressington Park.

On Wednesday 20 boys represented the Junior School at annual IPSHA Cross Country Carnival held at its usual venue of The Kings School in North Parramatta. N. Jones 2nd in U12s, J. Chan 4th in U10s and J. Bechara 3rd in U9s all qualified for IPSHA Team to compete on 9 June at the CIS carnival.
