Football Report Week 2, Term II, 2022

Last Saturday all Football was cancelled except for those games which were played at Bressington Oval. Below are the reports from the Year 9 games at Bressington.

9A Vs Barker

The 9As started off CAS Round 1 in fantastic style, scoring two of their four goals in the opening five minutes of play. Both goals by Joshua Awad (9Ho) and Joshua Falato (9Sc) were smartly taken and demonstrated great anticipation and composure. As the game settled, Lucas Kotevich (9We) remained a dominant figure on both sides of the ball which resulted in Trinity maintaining control. Eventually Trinity was able to take advantage with goals by Nass Awad (9Ho) and Thomas Petrovski (9Fo) to seal a 4-0 victory in an exciting first round matchup.

9B Vs Barker

The 9Bs were involved in a very entertaining 5-2 loss to start the CAS competition. With multiple players trying new positions, the team was challenged and responded well with some great passages of play. With a great showing of determination and disguise, Michael Nasr (9Mu) was able to score two goals. He was well supported by Christopher Michael (9We) and Aamir Salim (9Ar) who consistently played with a “team first” mentality and attempted to play great football until the final whistle. There were some good signs and the 9Bs are encouraged to continue good training habits into Round 2.

9C Vs Barker

After adjusting to the slippery conditions and constant rain, both teams settled and produced a very exciting first half of football, with both goalkeepers being tested without conceding. After the break our boys were dominant for long periods without scoring. Trinity could have conceded if not for the alertness of our defence which led by John Markos (9Hi) and Albert Zhou (9WJ) making a telling save. We produced several goal scoring opportunities including two penalties which we spurned. We persisted and were duly rewarded when Hadi Saab (9Mu) drove into the penalty and finished past the oncoming keeper with two minutes to go. Final score: Trinity 1-0 Barker.

9D Vs Barker

On a rain-sodden pitch amidst heavy downpours, the 9Ds performed admirably. With a man down we took the lead through Ethan Wong (9Du), who sliced through their defence and slotted home a goal into the bottom left-hand corner. At the start of the 2nd half, we equalised early, with Luke Ghanem(9WJ) getting to the ball first in the penalty box to drive it across their goalkeeper. Unfortunately for the rest of the game we were under siege. The opposition scored more goals, but not to be deterred, Benjamin Ugov (9He) replied with a much-deserved goal. Final score: Trinity 3-5 Barker.
