News from The Arthur Holt Library

Welcome back for Term 2! As always, we’ve hit the ground running here in The Arthur Holt Library. Year 7 are coming in for the last of their Wide Reading lessons, the Premier’s Reading Challenge is in full swing, and it’s time to return any books that you took home to read over the Easter break.

Last term, Year 7 each borrowed a book which they (hopefully) had a chance to finish over the term break. Over the next two weeks, they will each return to the library to review their chosen book and we will then publish their reviews on the library catalogue. Since there is no one better to recommend books to boys than other boys, we hope these reviews will give them plenty of ideas about what to read next.

If any student needs further inspiration, they can also sign up for the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Log-ins are available for every boy in the Middle School so if you, or someone you know, would like to take part just come and speak to a librarian about getting started. We know many of you are already well under way but feel free to pop in and ask a librarian for a book that they recommend.

Now is also a good time to return any books that you have taken out on loan. We will be issuing fines next week, but these will be refunded once the book is returned. We would always prefer a book to the money that it cost.

“The man who does not read good books is no better than the man who can’t.” – Mark Twain
