National Junior Track and Field Championships

The National Track and Field Championships were held at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre from 26 March to 3 April 2022.

Trinity had 21 students represent across a total of 33 events at the National Championships.

In total, Trinity made the medal dais on nine occasions for the Championships, a fantastic achievement from one school.

Special note

P Cantlon (2021) – competed in the U20 1500m (3.49.94s) and U20 3000m (8.12.84s) at Nationals coming 2nd place in both which earned him a selection on the World Junior Track and Field Championships to be held in Cali, Colombia in August 2022. A fantastic achievement from this Old Boy.

Later in the week O Hoare (2015) – competed in the Open 1500m (3.40.79s) winning the event and earning automatic selection to the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon in July 2022 and to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham (UK) in August 2002 . R Browning (2015), although he did not compete at the National Track and Field Championships, has done the automatic qualifying time, so will be also selected in the World Championships and Commonwealth Games.

It was great to see other Old Trinitarians competing at Nationals including A Clark (2018), L Codjoe (2021), C Coorey-Ewings (2016), C Griffith (2014), C Murphy (2019), F Murphy (2020), S Moir (2017), J Titmarsh (2020).
