CBCA Notables 2022

During Book Week in August each year, the Children’s Book Council of Australia announces their book of the year awards across multiple categories. The purpose of these awards is to

  • promote quality literature for young Australians;
  • support and encourage a wide range of Australian writers and illustrators of children’s books and;
  • celebrate contributions to Australian children’s literature.

In late February each year, a list of notable books is released. From this list, a shortlist will be announced in March, before the winners will be announced in August. Many parents are keen to know about quality new literature to read to their sons, this list is a great starting point. We recommend having a look at the list and asking your son which book he would like to read. Take some time to read a few of them before making your own predictions on who may win within a certain category.

The Library Staff have chosen a book they are going to read before deciding if they think it would win in that category. Come and speak to us to share what you have been reading as we would love to discuss which books could potentially win.
