The match continued to be dominated by Waverley, until the Trinity boys managed to find an extra gear and go ahead with just 20 seconds remaining.
A nail biting finished saw Trinity win by just 1 point with 1 second remaining on the clock! A fitting end to a great contest, and a result that I am sure pleased the Old Boys in attendance!
Following the game, the Old Boys were served Lunch, overlooking No.1 Oval where the Trinity 1 st XI Cricket Team had just sent Waverley back in after an impressive display of bowling by the Trinity attack.
During Lunch, the Old Boys had the chance to meet with some of the current Trinity players, parents and staff. A number of archival photographs were also on display, as was a special DVD presentation of recent season highlights.
Thank you to all those who attended to make this a very special occasion.
Eddie Chong (1974), captained Trinity first CAS Premiership 1 st V, and wrote to me following the Day. I think his words sum things up nicely:
Just a note to say thank you for organising the Old Trinitarian's Basketball Day. All the Coaches and Old Boys that I spoke to really had a fantastic time. I could not believe that after 30 years I caught up with Ken Langford-Smith and other guys from my generation.
It was just amazing to see and feel the camaraderie from the different generations of old boys and coaches.....it is as they say, just one big family!! The friendliness, the warmth, the belonging and respect for each other when we were all together was clearly evident on the day.
Congratulations for organising such a successful and historical day. It was an event that brought past generations back to and closer to the School, which is what it is all about.
Thank you and the 60's & 70's era will see you again at the Old Boys Basketball Day next year!
