Scholarship categories

A number of Scholarships for Year 7, 2009 are to be awarded by the School.
Academic

scholarships awarded, entitle the holders to the remission of tuition fees (whole or part).
No Scholarship is ever awarded on academic excellence alone; in other words, those who score the highest results are not necessarily the ones who receive Scholarships. Although academic excellence in each case is, of course, pre-eminent, a major factor in the award of Academic Scholarships. *

Trinitarian and Alumni
are awarded to boys whose abilities are of an all-round nature. The type of academic, citizenship, sporting and co-curricular contribution that a boy will be able to give to the School will be taken into consideration. Entitles the holders to the remission of tuition fees (whole or part).*
Music
awarded entitle the holders to the remission of tuition fees (whole or part). This is awarded to a boy with outstanding musical ability, either instrumental or choral.*

* All applicants must sit for the Scholarship Exam.


Duration of Tenure

Each Scholarship is awarded in the first instance for secondary schooling at Trinity Grammar School, subject to satisfactory conduct, academic performance and participation in the School's programme of music, sporting and co-curricular activities. If this performance is deemed satisfactory, the Scholarship will be renewed each year until the completion of secondary schooling at the end of Year 12.

Trinity Grammar School is pleased to offer ENTRY Scholarships for students of exceptional academic ability who wish to enter Year 10, 2008 with the intention of undertaking the International Baccalaureate in Years 11 & 12.

Scholarships are for tuition and/or International Baccalaureate examination fees for Year 10, 11 & 12.

This is a prestigious Scholarship programme and one in which the Head Master, Mr Cujes, takes a strong personal interest. Successful applicants will receive their Scholarship in terms of fee relief at a level determined by the Head Master.

The current Scholarship programme offers a significant opportunity for academically able students, who share the School’s values and aspirations, to enjoy their three final years of secondary education at Trinity.


Selection Criteria

The award of Scholarships will be based on the following criteria:

  • a review of Year 7, 8, and 9 Reports from the candidate’s current School.
  • the candidate’s performance in an independent assessment test conducted at Trinity Grammar School.
  • the submission of a Portfolio containing evidence of achievements and including samples of appropriate academic work.
  • an outline of involvement in sporting and co-curricular activities.
  • the candidate’s performance in an interview with Senior Staff of Trinity Grammar School.
  • the candidate’s willingness to embrace the holistic nature of the educational offering of Trinity Grammar School

The Portfolio, which may be discussed during an interview, should exemplify the candidate’s educational achievement as well as illustrate his intellectual qualities. In addition an outline of involvement in sporting and co-curricular activities should be submitted.
