Preparatory School Psychologist A School Psychologist/Counsellor is sought for Trinity Grammar Preparatory School campus at Strathfield. Under the direction of the Managing Psychologist and Master of the Preparatory School, and in consultation with relevant teachers and parents, the School Psychologist provides psychological assessment, counselling and consultancy services to the Preparatory School. The successful applicant will be registered with NSW Psychologists Registration Board, possess considerable experience in infant/primary education, have particular interest and expertise in psychometric and diagnostic assessment of children and familiarity with a range of interventions and support systems for children with special needs. High level skills in communication, collaboration and conflict resolution are also necessary. Previous experience as a teacher in infant and/or primary education would be advantageous, as would familiarity with effective parenting programmes. General Information The School is a member of the Combined Associated Schools of New South Wales and joins in the CAS Sports competition, while at the Primary level the School is a member of the Independent Primary School Heads' Association of Australia and participates in the IPSHAA Sports and Cultural activities. All members of staff are appointed by the Head Master and they are responsible to him for the overall performance of their duties. The Head Master delegates his authority to senior staff members for the effective management of the School. Specific Responsibilities 1.1 Provide assessment of individual students presenting with special learning, social/emotional and/or behavioural needs. 1.2 Write reports and recommendations where necessary. 1.3 Provide short term counselling to, and/or intervention with, individual students. 1.4 Provide case management for students with learning and physical 1.5 Establish and maintain appropriate referral networks for students with special 1.6 Provide appropriate communication to, and consultation with, parents. 1.7 Consult with relevant school staff concerning feedback and implications for student/s and staff. 1.8 Facilitate small group programmes where necessary (E.g. anxiety groups ‘Cool Kids’, anger management groups, parenting groups). 2.0 Assist students with special needs in applications for AIS funding. 2.1 Contribute to School Pastoral programs when required. 2.2 Maintain a network of professional colleagues (public and private). 2.3 Respond to critical incidents and provide debriefing/trauma 2.6 Maintain professional development through participation at seminars, presentations and conferences. 2.7 Contribute to the co-curricular and sporting programmes of the School. 2.8 Facilitate group entry testing for Junior School & Preparatory schools. 2.9 Review diagnostic testing for enrolment applicants and make Essential Requirements
