INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FILM COMPETITION 2006

Film is truly an international language. Part of the aims of both the International Baccalaureate and Trinity Grammar, is to foster understanding between cultures and to develop expressive skills in young people. What better way to give voice and vision to the thoughts, hopes, dreams and fears of youth than through an international student film festival.
Film is a powerful medium. At the International Student Film Festival there was not a single film which was without significant merit, and the winners were, in every sense, fine examples of the film maker's art. First place went to Insight a piece in the film noir tradition, which was both challenging and technically brilliant. Second place was shared by The Wirrelton Boundary and I'm Home, both films that drew on the cinematic horror tradition.
The judges, actor Rhys Muldoon and film distributor Greg Denning, both commented on the high standard of entries. |
