2008 European Tour

Dear Tour Parents,

All is well in Paris. The weather is a little cool, however the rain is keeping away. Yesterday's trip to Claire-Fontaine was an outstanding and invaluable experience for the boys. The 16's team played the National U/15 side where 7 players are already signed with European clubs and although the boys came second comfortably, they took the experience as a privilege to play against some of France's best footballers for their age group. They were lucky enough to have dinner with these boys and get some autographs for the future. The open’s team played at 8pm with 3 x 30 min thirds against a strong provincial side which were U/18's. They played some good football in patches however went down 1-0 in a tight fixture. Both of our teams were fortunate enough to play on an amazing artificial surface (at Claire Fontaine) which, hopefully, we might have sometime soon at Trinity.

We have had two laundry runs - this evening's was a bumper!!!

This morning we headed out to Villers-Bretonneux,  some 150kms north of Paris by bus to observe the Memorial to Australian soldiers who gave their lives during WWI. It was a day of weather which started with rain and mist and then cleared as we approached the Memorial. Mr.Bishop was our tour guide for the trip and gave the boy’s some details on WWI and why Villers-Bretonneux was so important to Australians and even more so the French. The boys enjoyed the trip and some were quite affected by it.

Tomorrow we go to Musee d'Orsay in the morning then to the Eiffel Tower in the afternoon. We hope also to visit the Louvre at some stage depending on time.

Hope you are all warm in Sydney as it is pretty cool here.

Regards,

David.
