Music Tour to Hawaii                                          back to top
July 2006

Trinity made the local press while in Hawaii, July 2006. Please click here to read what they had to say.

Our tour was held on the island of Oahu. Oahu is the most developed of Hawaii’s six main islands, with Waikiki providing nearly half of all Hawaii’s tourist attractions. Still, despite its development, its beauty remains with fluted mountains, aqua-blue bays and valleys carpeted with pineapple fields.

The Marine Forces Pacific Band, one of twelve field bands throughout the Corps, is stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay. While the Marines who serve with the band call "K-Bay" home, they spend much of their time travelling throughout the Pacific region and abroad, fulfilling their duties as musical ambassadors for the Marine Corps. In addition to providing musical support for parades, concerts, ceremonies, and other official events the band is trained and equipped to fulfil its role as a provisional rifle platoon.

The US Marine Forces Pacific Band Ceremonial Band combines precision drill movements with exciting musical facility, bringing together all the elements of military regalia. This 40-piece ensemble supports ceremonies across all branches of the armed forces, entertains thousands every year in concert, and dazzles crowds across the Pacific Region and abroad with its musicianship, precision, and pageantry.

Trinity Band was involved in the following activities with the US Marine Forces Pacific Band:
Workshops with US Marine Forces Pacific Band at Kaneohe Bay
Watch ‘Military Ceremony’ with US Marine Forces Pacific Band
Recreational day with the Band

In addition they enjoyed the following activities:
1) “Oahu Grand Circle Island’ Tour
A fully narrated 120-mile tour of Oahu includes all of the "must-see" locations on Oahu.

  • Diamond Head
  • Pali Lookout
  • Hanauma Bay
  • Halona Point ("Blow Hole")
  • Mormon Temple
  • Byodo-In at the "Valley of the Temples"
  • Kualoa Nursery
  • North Shore
  • Waimea Bay
  • Haleiwa

2) The "Stars and Stripes’ Tour - combined the two most recognized WWII memorials - the Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri Memorial.

3) Hawaii’s Polynesian Cultural Center

4) Hanauma Bay snorkelling trip

Music Tour to New Zealand                                          back to top
June, 2005

During Activities Week, I had the privilege of leading a tour to New Zealand with members of the Trinity Sinfonietta, under the musical direction of Mr Ronald Thomas, with the assistance of Mr Eliot FitzSimons. We arrived in Auckland on a cold, wintry day and were housed in the Presidential Hotel in the Centre of Auckland... Click here to read more.
Music Tour to China                                                       back to top
July, 2005

The last week of the holidays saw the Chapel Choir board China Eastern Airlines for Shanghai to participate in the first International Schools’ Chorus festival in Shanghai, which would include concerts in the brand new Shanghai Concert Hall, along with two choirs from Germany, one from Austria, one from Jordan, one from Hong Kong and three from China, including our host School Shibei Senior High School... Marching Band                                                               back to top
July, 2005

After such a musical extravaganza over the last four weeks, I was thrilled to open an envelope on my return to School and read a letter which gave a belated thank you to all bands that participated in this year’s Anzac Day March. There were over 25,000 marchers this year and the performances from all bands were extremely well-received.
I then turned over the see the results of the Anzac Band Competition 2005 to see that TGS marching band has achieved its highest ever-position in the competition – we were placed second. Congratulations to all the boys who did so well in their new uniforms, and in particular a big thank you for all the hard work that has been put into this group through the team work of Marshal Sel King and Bandmaster, Mr Christopher Aschman. To have all this hard work rewarded with such a high placing is fantastic. They gave worked very hard this year and I am sure it is only the beginning of greater things to come.
Mr Phil Pratt
